Organic Chemistry I

Our Organic Chemistry I course comes with a customized lab kit so you can perform experiments at home and get the most out of your education. Dr. Tom Green instructs this course and has been teaching for decades. He has developed an asynchronous schedule so that you can watch pre recorded lectures anywhere. 

Experiments include:

  • Use of  Molecular Modeling Software  for structure analysis
  • Nuclear Magnetic Spectroscopy, with processing of real spectra
  • Infrared Spectroscopy interpretation
  • Thin Layer Chromatography
  • Crystallization 
  • Synthesis of Ethers
  • Dehydration of Alcohols
  • Reduction of Camphor, a natural product.

 

 

Academic Advising

Your academic advisor is an incredibly useful resource and will help guide you in your course selection, plans for graduation, academic struggles, questions, and goals. When you first start in the program, your advisor will be the wonderful and amazing Amy Wald

After a year or two, you will be assigned a faculty advisor based on your degree focus. For all you chemistry 成人影片, it will be the knowledgeable Dr. Howard. If you are concentrating in Biochemistry or Environmental Chemistry, Dr. Green will be your go to.  Explore the tabs to learn more about your advisors!

  CNSM Undergraduate Advisor
Amy Wald is the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematic's undergraduate advisor. She will help you register for classes and support you through the first several semesters of your undergraduate degree. She is a wonderful resource for registering for classes, degree planning, and understanding academic policies here, at UAF.

  B.S. in Chemistry
Dr. William Howard is the faculty advisor for 成人影片 pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. After you have spent a few semesters working with Amy, you will transition over to a faculty advisor so that their guidance can be geared more towards your individual goals and aspirations.

  B.S. in Biochemistry or Environmental Chemistry
Dr. Tom Green is the academic advisor for undergrads pursuing a chemistry degree with a concentration in either biochemistry or environmental chemistry. He will be an excellent addition to your academic arsenal once you have transitioned from Amy to a faculty advisor.
