Jodie Anderson, director of the University of 成人影片 Fairbanks Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Extension will be giving a talk at noon on Oct. 17 titled 鈥淐ircumpolar Food Security: 成人影片 Isn鈥檛 Out Standing Alone in Our Field.鈥

成人影片ns in agriculture often talk about how the state鈥檚 population is too small to offer big economic opportunities, said Jodie Anderson, director of the University of 成人影片 Fairbanks Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Extension. Instead, she said, 成人影片ns need to think globally to thrive locally.

Join Anderson at noon on Oct. 17 for a lunch-and-learn session and discussion, 鈥淐ircumpolar Food Security: 成人影片 Isn鈥檛 Out Standing Alone in Our Field.鈥 The talk will focus on how 成人影片ns can work together toward a more robust food system, based on Anderson鈥檚 observations from the Circumpolar Agriculture Conference in the Faroe Islands in September.

鈥淥n this trip, I saw very independent farmers coming together to overcome their obstacles,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 saw public-private partnerships working, and I saw successful agriculture in very difficult conditions.鈥

Anderson said participants shared concerns about farmed fish, climate change, loss of farmland, aging farmers, the high cost of input for beginning and established farmers, and decreased interest in agriculture. They also discussed the need to engage politicians on the importance of a robust food system and the complexity of this multifaceted issue.

鈥淲e have to stop thinking we are the only ones who can get it done 鈥 we must work together,鈥 Anderson said. 鈥淟et鈥檚 do this with intention. Let鈥檚 figure this out. Let鈥檚 help each other. Let鈥檚 teach and learn from each other.鈥
