Return of light can trigger seasonal depression

Seasonal affective disorder, known as SAD, usually occurs in the winter, but some people are hit harder in the spring. They become depressed as the days get longer and the temperatures warmer.

If you find yourself having symptoms of depression 鈥 feelings of hopelessness, teariness, lack of motivation, thoughts of hurting yourself, difficulty making decisions, decreased concentration 鈥 please call the Student Health and Counseling Center at 474-7043 for an appointment.

The center is open 8:30 a.m.鈥5 p.m. and also has a 24-hour call line staffed by licensed professionals.

UAF engineering team wins mine design competition

A team of UAF mining engineering 成人影片 has captured first place in an international mine design competition.

House committee takes budget testimony from Fairbanks today

On the afternoon of Thursday, March 2, the House Finance Committee will begin taking public testimony on the state鈥檚 operating budget. The committee is recommending $325 million in unrestricted general funds for the University of 成人影片. This is the same as the university鈥檚 current funding level, and consistent with the governor鈥檚 request. However, it is still $16 million below the UA Board of Regents鈥 request of $341 million for FY18.

Festival of Native Arts comes to UAF March 2-4

The Festival of Native Arts is slated for March 2-4 at the University of 成人影片 Fairbanks Davis Concert Hall. Doors open to the public at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, March 2 and 3 and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 4. This year鈥檚 theme is 鈥淐arry Your Drum, Carry Your Culture.鈥

March is packed with activities

March on the Fairbanks campus is packed with programs sponsored by the UAF Student Activities Office, the Leadership, Involvement and Volunteer Experience program, and the Nanook Diversity and Action Center.

'Fences' to be screened at Arctic Java

The Nanook Diversity and Action Council will screen Denzel Washington's 2016 film "Fences," an adaptation of a 1983 play by the same name written by August Wilson.

The film details the experience of an African-American father with race relations in 1950s America and explores themes of masculinity, family and the American dream.

The screening will be held on March 7 at 7 p.m. in Arctic Java. There will be a discussion about the film afterwards.

Peter MacKeith photography exhibit opens for First Friday

The "2017 Peter MacKeith Memorial Photography Exhibition: Ascension" will open Friday, March 3, with a reception in Wood Center's Arctic Java. The photos will be on display beginning at 5 p.m. The reception event is free and open to the public. Frozen Lenses, the UAF student photography group, is hosting the exhibit through March 19 in partnership with the Wood Center Student Activities Office.

UAF Major Mania on March 10

This year鈥檚 Major Mania will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, March 10, in the Wood Center multilevel lounge. Once again, Major Mania will be combined with Inside Out, a preview event at UAF that brings more than 100 local high school juniors and seniors to campus.

Koyukuk Drive to close March 6-7 for evening snow removal

Beginning at 7 p.m. on the evenings of March 6 and 7, Koyukuk Drive will close to traffic for snow removal. UAF Facilities Services crews will place signs and barricades in the area informing drivers of the temporary closure.

Spring schedule released for campus snow removal

UAF Facilities Services has released the schedule for spring snow removal of campus parking lots.
