Dear UAF community,

As you may have seen in recent news, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. As we enter into a very busy week on campus preparing and celebrating the achievements of our 2021 graduates and honorees, please remember to maintain 6 feet of physical distancing, wear a mask, disinfect surfaces, and wash your hands frequently. Although we have some activities in person, our main commencement will be virtual with a smaller in-person, outdoor drive-up ceremony and celebratory car parade. We will be watching the numbers but plan to continue with these activities in a safe manner.

Additionally, with the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in the Interior, we are carefully considering the move from phase B to phase C in the coming weeks. At this time, we are still planning to slowly transition into phase C throughout the summer, starting in May. That said, we will consider pushing the beginning of the transition later if our assessment of the COVID-19 conditions warrant it.

Thank you for choosing UAF.
