Career Pathways Internship

The Career Pathways Internship Program is a collaboration between the 成人影片 Department of Transportation & Public Facilities and the UAF College of Engineering and Mines.

This internship provides you with an opportunity to learn about the diverse set of employment opportunities in engineering and beyond.

 
 

Who is this internship for?

Post-first-year 成人影片 of varied disciplines.
Both engineering and non-engineering majors may apply.

What to expect

Hands-on work experience

  • Work with planners, engineers, and communications specialists responsible for different phases and components of real-world projects.
  • Assist in developing basic conceptual designs and gain practical experience that complements classroom work.
  • Visit civil infrastructure projects and learn how local knowledge is incorporated into solutions.

Professional growth and career building

  • Participate in activities and events that build and extend personal and professional connections.
  • Develop skills for interacting with practicing professionals and individuals outside your profession.
  • Learn to understand and evaluate issues related to professional practice.

Increased organizational knowledge

  • Explore the various departments and functions within the ADOT&PF and gain a comprehensive understanding of the organization.
  • Learn about the process and need for professional licensing, assessing personal and professional ethics in the workplace and the impacts of projects on the community.

Application Process

  1. Fill out the . You must be signed in with your alaska.edu account to access the form.
  2. Once your application is approved, you will be eligible to register for CE 470 Civil Engineering Internship (1 Credit). The cost of tuition for this class will be covered by the program.
  3. Attend CE 470 during the spring semester and pass in good standing. Attending this course is a program requirement.
  4. Start your paid internship in the summer. The internship runs from May to August.
